Tandoori roti naan can also be made at home without tandoor or any grill
below is an easy recipe to make tandoori roti naan at home
In the Indian subcontinent, tandoori roti naans are popular especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Haryana and Punjab regions, where naan breads are baked in tandoor clay ovens fired by wood or charcoal. These naans are known as tandoori roti naan
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup warm water
1/4 oz active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups wheat flour
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oil
some oil, for greasing the skillet
3 tablespoons melted butter
1.In a small bowl, add the sugar, warm water, and yeast together.
2.Stir to combine well.
3.The yeast should be activated when it becomes foamy, about 10 minutes.
4.Transfer the flour to a flat surface and make a well in the middle.
5.Add the yeast mixture, yoghurt, salt and oil, knead the dough until the surface becomes smooth and shiny, about 10 minutes.
6.Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place (for example: beside the stovetop or warm oven). The dough should double in size, about 1 hour.
7.Divide the dough into 10 equal portions.
8.Roll the dough to a 8” circle using a rolling spin.
9.Heat up a skillet (cast-iron preferred) over high heat and lightly grease the surface with some oil to avoid the dough from sticking to the skillet.
10.Place the dough on the skillet.
11.When it puffs up and bubbles and burnt spots appear, flip it over and cook the other side.
12.Repeat the same until all dough are done.
13.Brush the tandoori roti naan with the melted butter, serve warm.
